Say hello to Ganondorf, a gentle five-month-old kitty you may remember from last month’s Mews News. He was one of the six “Legend of Zelda” kittens abandoned in a box outside our clinic doors overnight. While slightly older than the other kittens he was found with, he still faced a mountain of health challenges, including a severe respiratory infection, ringworm, giardia, and a persistent fever.
Despite that heartbreaking start, this little guy proved to be a true warrior. After weeks of intensive medical care—and a lot of resilience—Ganondorf has made a full comeback. These days, he’s officially traded his “crisis patient” status for a much cozier role as a professional snuggler.
If you’re looking for the perfect work-from-home companion, look no further. Ganondorf is happiest “supervising” our staff from his elephant-shaped cat cave, perched right on their desk. He happily spends the day by their side, enjoying peaceful naps and quietly keeping them company as they work.
Now healthy, super sweet, and full of love, Ganondorf is ready to leave his rough start and find the forever home he deserves. Whether he’s cuddling in your arms or watching you work from his elephant cave, he just wants to be wherever his favorite people are.
Come by our Adoption Center this weekend and give Ganondorf the homecoming he’s been waiting for.
The journey to our new space is reaching its final milestone. The build-out is nearly complete, we’ve passed inspection, and the transition has begun! Our new surgery suite is being outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment and our adoption condos are getting ready for their first residents.
On Monday, March 30, our Furever Home officially opens!
We invite you to celebrate with us at our Grand Opening Community Cookout on Saturday, April 4. Meet our team, tour the facility, and see firsthand how your support is transforming lives—all while enjoying great food, good company, and plenty of feline-inspired fun. We can’t wait to see you there.
Monthly giving is one of the most powerful ways to save cats all year long. Your steady support provides the care, medical treatment, and safe shelter that vulnerable kitties urgently need.
As a Feline the Love Club member, you’ll join a dedicated community making a lifesaving impact every single month. You’ll also enjoy exclusive perks, like monthly rescue stories, quarterly keepsake photo cards, and invitations to VIP events.
Start “Feline the Love” today and help us provide a safety net for the cats who need us most.
We are proud to introduce Dave Ginsburg, our Board Treasurer. With a career rooted in technology and a passion for animal rescue, Dave helps manage the budgets and programs that make our lifesaving work possible. Here, Dave reflects on his journey so far with Nine Lives:
“Serving as Treasurer this past year has deepened my appreciation for what makes Nine Lives so special. Behind every rescue, treatment, and adoption is a dedicated network of veterinarians, staff, volunteers, and supporters who believe that every cat deserves a healthy life and a loving home.
My professional background is in the technology industry, where I spent many years helping organizations grow and manage complex programs and budgets. In recent years, I’ve been grateful for the chance to devote my time to causes that matter deeply to me. Animal welfare and environmental stewardship are close to my heart, and serving on the board has been a meaningful way to help build a more compassionate and sustainable community.
One of the moments that has stayed with me most was our response to the Palisades and Eaton wildfires. Watching frightened, displaced, and injured cats arrive at our doors was heartbreaking—but what stood out even more was how quickly our team mobilized to provide medical care and safety. Seeing that compassion in action reminded me just how powerful this community truly is.
Outside of my work with Nine Lives, I enjoy traveling, running, learning about wine, and spending time with my family. My wife and I are proud parents of two daughters who are both graduating from college this year.
I’ve included a photo of our family because the work we do here ultimately supports families of all kinds, both human and feline.
Thank you for being part of the Nine Lives community and for helping make this lifesaving work possible.”

We are just one week away from moving into our Furever Home.
It’s hard to put into words what this moment truly means. This has been nearly four years in the making—a vision that started as a hopeful idea and is now becoming a reality before our eyes. Seeing the final details come together makes it clear: we are ready to begin our most important chapter yet.
Looking ahead, by 2028, this new facility will allow us to double our lifesaving impact—reaching over 10,000 surgeries annually, doubling the number of cats rescued and adopted, and launching critical new programs like wellness care and dentistry. This isn’t just a new building; it expands what’s possible for cats across our community.
We would love for you to be part of this moment. Join us at our Grand Opening Community Cookout on Saturday, April 4, for a celebration of everything we’ve built together and everything still to come.
When you walk through our new doors, you’ll see the future for cats in need of a miracle—cats like Butters.
Many of you will remember Butters, the five-year-old kitty who came to Nine Lives after surviving a devastating house fire. Today, I’m so proud to share just how far he’s come.
After weeks of intensive medical care and specialized treatment, Butters is now stable, bright, and steadily healing. His wounds, once severe and life-threatening, are continuing to close and form healthy tissue, and each week we see more progress. We are so grateful to witness his journey back to health.
He still keeps our team busy with a rigorous treatment schedule, but his spirit has never wavered. He’s taken everything in stride, even embracing a new wardrobe of cozy pajama sets that protect his healing skin (and, honestly, make him look incredibly dashing).
Despite everything he’s been through, he’s still making biscuits and charming everyone he meets. But here’s the part I love most: Butters will be available for adoption soon after we open our Furever Home.
A fresh start, in a brand-new space, for a cat who fought so hard for a second chance. That is exactly what our mission is all about. If stories like Butters’ remind you why this work matters, I invite you to be part of what comes next.
Your support is what makes these second chances possible and what will allow us to save thousands more. We aren’t simply moving into a new building; we’re building the future of cat rescue.
