Spay and Neuter Voucher Program: Partnering for a Lifesaving Mission!

Starting April 1st, Nine Lives Foundation is thrilled to announce our partnership with San Mateo County’s Spay and Neuter Voucher Program! This initiative provides essential support to help residents of San Mateo County spay and neuter their cats affordably, ensuring fewer unwanted litters and healthier communities.

If you’re a resident of San Mateo County, you can apply for vouchers through this program to cover or significantly reduce the cost of spaying and neutering your cats. Let’s explore how this works, why it’s important, and how you can book your appointment at Nine Lives Foundation.

How the Voucher Program Works

San Mateo County residents can take advantage of the following benefits starting April 1st:

For Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR): The voucher program covers 100% of the cost for feral cats being spayed or neutered through TNR efforts. This includes the procedure, FVRCP vaccine, and rabies vaccine—a value of $125 per cat at no cost to you!

For Privately Owned Cats: The program also offers vouchers for owned cats, providing $150 to offset the cost of their spay or neuter surgery. With Nine Lives’ already low-cost pricing, this means:

  • Spay for females: $150 (after the voucher, a 50% savings)
  • Neuter for males: $100 (after the voucher, a 65% savings)

To redeem your voucher, simply bring it with you at the time of drop-off.

Why Spaying and Neutering is Vital

Every year, thousands of cats and kittens face uncertain futures due to overpopulation. By spaying and neutering your cats, you play a critical role in:

  1. Preventing Unwanted Litters: A single unspayed female cat and her offspring can produce hundreds of kittens in just a few years. Spaying prevents these litters from ever being born into precarious situations.
  2. Improving Health: Spaying and neutering reduce the risk of certain cancers and infections, leading to longer, healthier lives for your feline companions.
  3. Reducing Behavioral Issues: Neutering male cats can minimize spraying, marking, and aggressive behaviors. Spaying females eliminates the stress and risks associated with heat cycles.
  4. Supporting Your Community: TNR programs stabilize feral cat populations, reduce nuisance behaviors, and improve the overall well-being of outdoor cats.

How to Book Your Appointment

Redeeming your voucher at Nine Lives Foundation is easy! Simply book your spay/neuter appointment online.

Honoring All Vouchers

We understand some residents may already have older vouchers. Please note that Nine Lives Foundation will continue to honor these vouchers even after the new prices go into effect on April 1st.

A Brighter Future Starts with Spay and Neuter

With kitten season just around the corner, now is the perfect time to take action.
